View Full Version : Fantômas @ Adelaide Big Day Out

Perhaps in defiance to the Aussie punters in the crowd, Fantômas entered the stage dressed in full cricket whites (Australia had just lost to NZ in a game played earlier that day) to deliver their Big Day Out set. It wasn't long before frontman Mike Patton was on the edge of the stage batting the multitude of bottles/cans "bowled' his way.
Stage antics aside, Fantômas played the Directors Cut from start to finish with a few extras thrown in for good measure.
Terrifying is a word I would use to describe their sound.

Somehow the images don't convey a sense of the perfect game to me ... they might need gloves and caps with a little red rubbing on their outfits! :-) But they sound like a very fun group ... so where are the pictures with the bottles and cans? And isn't illegal to have more than two batters or one bowler on the field? :-)

hahaha! nice one dwight! i wonder if they had balls and gloves out back?
and yeah i was cursing for missing those pics, but we only had the three song deal. i then moved to the crowd area and took a few long shots, then put my gear away and watched. of course, then the bottles and batting took place!! arghhhhh!!!

You'd think, as a Yank, that I'd know nothing of this sport, but a few years ago I spent a lot of time making fun of it in the Sports section and was bullied into learning the rules ... not strategy and certainly not all the strange position names, such as legside near googly stumpbuster or whatever. :-) But after I understood a bit I was then bullied into shooting a 1-Day ... see http://dwightmccann.com/Images/Cricket/SantaBarbaraCricketClub061706/index.html. It was 104 and I spent most of the day in the sun. Thank goodness both teams were incredibly friendly and gave me lot of fluids, lots of sunscreen and lots of Paki and Indian food for lunch! :-)

well, i am one of the odd australians who DOESN'T follow the cricket! i don't really know too much about it personally, and to be honest the game bores me! it seems to drag on and on and not a lot appears to happen. excuse my ignorance if i appear un-aussie!
nice pics tho, what was the setup for those? looks like you shot with at least a 300?
