Haven't put up any pics in a while. Here's a few from the last couple of games. Just a few more games to go this season. All home game shots (white BCL) are ISO 3200 1/320 f/2.8. The other games (blue BCL) tend to be ISO 1600 1/320 - 400 f/2.8. Tonight we have an away game in a rink I have not been in yet. Maybe it will have some light!
CC most welcome.

watch your horizons and crop the first a bit tighter. I'd also adjust the WB on 2 and 3. Otherwise, these look very nice and you ought to be thrilled with the results.

Thanks. I try to keep the horizons straight in camera. I do a crop and straighten in post on some. Often times, the crooked horizon is a result of the shot being in the corners. Due to the curve of the boards, it sometimes looks as if the horizon is off. The rest, just me being a little lazy:)!
WB on 2 and 3. You picked the 2 hardest shots, WB wise, to comment on! On 2, that rink had those horrible sodium lights. They were cycling like crazy. I did my best to get it right where the player was, but you can still see the pink background from the neighboring light. On 3, that's my home rink. The background is lit up by a large overhead electric heater for the stands. When that freaking this is on, and the stands cover part of the scene, I have a hell of a time getting it right!

Great shots given the conditions. I wish mine with similar settings were as clear as these. The action is very nice in 1, 3, 4, and 6.

But then you have to pick something vertical and make sure it is straight up-and-down. Corner or not, the glass separators in the shots you refer to, are not perfectly vertical, therefore crooked.
They're nice shots, you've done a good job. Lots of eyes.

Good point. Now that you have mentioned the glass separators, the crooked ones are bugging me! I'm getting ready to go through last night's game. I'll use those as a reference and see how it looks. Normally, I just use the top of the boards as a reference. Other times, when I level the boards in the background, I don't like the angle the player ends up being. Sometimes I like the payer upright, sometimes it looks better with the player leaned over. The boards don't always level out in those cases. Not sure if that makes any sense, but maybe you get what I mean... It is true though, a crooked background always looks odd.

In the team's home rink, I have a spot where there is no glass. It's an odd spot to have no glass; there really should be glass in that spot. The kids get stuffed there a lot. Bonus for me, but the down side is you have to be quick! I've been hit with the puck twice (protected the camera though) and whacked with a stick or two!
Here's a reference to the location.

All the other rinks I've shot in have glass all the way around. One or two have no glass in the P box. As normal, some rinks have glass that is better than others. You just have to find a clean spot and shoot at as small an angle as possible to prevent total contrast washout.
