A1100 (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=183&modelid=18138)
Has an optical viewfinder at least. 4x zoom, 12 MP.
A2100 (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=183&modelid=18295)
12 MP and 6x zoom
Again, no Manual, Av or Tv modes, no fold-out screen and no viewfinder.
Both appear to be using the same 12.1 MP 1/2.3 sensor.

The A1000/2000 IS are not even 6 month old, are they?

Nope. Biggest difference here may be the HD support. We're starting to see features other than raw MP driving camera designs it looks like.

There's no HD support, the models include the addition of DIGIC 4 and new AUTO

I bought the A1000 after I dropped and damaged my A720 and am very happy with it as my carry everywhere camera!

I have the A2000 IS. Is there any way to have my name show up on the EXIF like my Canon SLRs?

At worst, you can modify the EXIF data after the fact.
exiftools would work. There are others also.

Can't answer for that specific model but look under Camera Window and Settings; my A630 and SX1 both support owner's name in there.
