G3, 380Ex & TTL hotshoe Adaptor 3

I tried firing my 380EX from my G3 through the TTL hot shoe adaptor 3 and off camera shoe adaptor. It seems that the Flash simply fires at full power, regardless of what other exposure settings I use.

Directly on the G3, the 380Ex seems to work ok

Is there something I can do to use this combination.

I was hoping to use the flash with a low power setting to do some macro photography.

I believe for EX flashes and the G series cameras you need the Off Camera Shoe Cord 2.

(Note, I am not 100% sure of this, so please don't spend any money until you check it out.)
