I was laying in bed last night, thinking what Canon was missing. I'm a primarily a sports photographer. That being said, I don't need 10FPS.
The thing which Canon could do, and I'd bet it would sell like hot-cakes is to have a xxD bodied camera with the 1D AF system, but keep the 1.6x crop factor and lower pixel density with the DIGIC 4 for cleaner ISOs
Price it 2-300 more then the regular xxD.
Instead of having to buy a 1D with a 400 2.8, you could get away with a 300 2.8.
I'd pick it up in an instant

Immediately after you said what you want...you stated exactly why it wouldn't happen.

Exactly..
But as they said, Canon wouldnt because it would cut sales of the 1D, the 1D is THE professional sports camera, and Canon knows this, Canon has the dominant market share and thus basically sits back and says "Ok you can have a Nikon D300 with their 300 f/2.8, or you can have what everyone else has, And theres a reason everyone else has it
