Check out this picture of a young lady in The Ohio State Marching Band marching at the horse shoe in Columbus. On first glance no big deal- just a nice image. However check out the BELL of her horn. Reflections baby! You never know what you can capture when light reflects.

Thanks! No doubt. Sometimes you work so hard so compose a shot and never feel quite satisfied and then this happens. I wish I could say that I planned this shot. The band was spelling out the script O_H_I_O and the 100,000 people were going nuts and the band members were moving fast. So I was just shooting different shots to meter my camera before the game started so I would be ready for the "real" action. And this happened. When I saw the shot at first I did not notice the reflection. After a second look-WOW.

Lol! I know what you are talking about! I lived in Chardon, OH for most of my growing up years and have attended MANY Buckeye games! I've always been a fan of OSU Marching Band, they are one of the few that can spell on the field :) Great capture!

Thanks Clarence! I am not in my office where the original file is so I cropped the Jpeg file I had at home. Yes I can see the approximate location I think was. I am at the 20 yard line. Here it is.

Very nice shot, and you're absolutely right...the reflection adds so much more to the shot IMHO.

I have to say that I am a bit of a fan of the OSU Marching Band. I was in the MSU Spartan Marching Band and we performed with OSU a few times. They are a very classy act and do a spectacular job on the field. (The Spartan Marching Band can also spell on field, btw!) It especially helps, since we have a common enemy!

I especially like the shot because it is of a baritone player. I played the baritone in the Spartan Marching Band!!! HOOOAAHHH!!!

Thanks Panther. I am glad you clarified that was a baritone player b/c I did not know what instrument she was playing. I root for any team that plays that state who shall not be named up North (mchiagn). Were you a member of DCI (Drum Corp International)?

No I wasn't, but I had some friends in the band who were, although after 12 years, I can't remember which ones were in DCI...I just know several were :D

Great Shoot Hooday. I love how well the stadium shows and can even see some clouds and blue sky.
I'm a Purdue Grad and an IU dad, so my alliances are confused..can't brag about any of the teams anyway, but I got this off a tuba between Assembly hall and the football stadium before a game earlier this year....

Nice. Reminds me of my IU days. I am a graduate of the Hoosier nation. Back in the day I am not sure there was even a marching band b/c the football team sucked sooooooo bad. I did not mind b/c I had my beloved buckeyes and the basketball team was winning national championships. Nice shot. The larger the bell of the horn the better the reflection.

LOL...If I was, I would be too ashamed to admit it. I would rather be a member of the University of Toledo Marching Band than a member of the Wolverine Marching Band. And that is not a knock against Toledo either.
