Hello:

I am having no success with this and normally this forum is great for answering such seemingly 'difficult' questions. Here's the problem......bought a used 1D that didn't come with any software. Downloaded what I thought I needed to change some of the in-camera settings (DPP) but I still cannot change the tone curve (or rather load a different one into the camera). Can someone explain step-by-step how this is done and which software I need to have installed for this to work properly. Much appreciated and waiting anxiously for an answer!!!

I tried looking at DPP to see if there's a way to save the tone curves but I haven't found a way to do it and it's not in the documentation. But I must admit, I don't use DPP enough to be familiar with all it's ins and outs.

However, you can very easily save tone curves using EVU. Once you save it, you can then access the saved tone curve by going into the camera settings screen and loading the tone curve. If I'm not mistaken, the 1D only allows the loading of one tone curve vs. three for the other 1D series cameras.

If you don't already have the documentation for EVU, you might want to download it from the Canon site(http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=325&modelid=9808). It explains how to load the tone curves into the camera.

PacAce.....thanks for the info. Next question is where can I get the EOS Viewer Utility? I found the upgrade but it mentions that you need version 1 to upgrade. Again, any help is appreciated!!

Do you have File Viewer Utility? If so, you will be able to install EVU. That upgrade is really a full blown program but you need to have a previous version of FVU or EVU to install it.

I don't think I have this unless it's on an old G1 disc...........where can I get this? Can someone send it to me or is this copyright infringement? I've looked all over the Canon site and all I can find is updater files which require something to update (which I obviously do not have!! )

Any help is appreciated!!

I'm not sure but the old CD from the G1 might contain the FVU program. If so, you can install that. And if the version of FVU you have is at least 1.1, then you'll be able to install EVU. If you don't have FVU 1.1 or higher, then you can download and update for FVU first, then install EVU.
