View Full Version : The Prodigy @ Adelaide Big Day Out

I found The Prodigy really hard to shoot. Do these guys EVER stand still for more than .3 of a second?!!! Damn, they were across the stage from left to right faster than I could follow! Low light, fired with sporadic bursts of insanely white light played havoc with my settings, but in the end I managed these shots that I consider worthwhile.
Had the first three song deal as per usual, but I spent most of the third song cleaning my lens as Maxim had so generously squirted water all over it (and my camera).
Interestingly I was told I could shoot another song as I was about to leave the pit area. Not sure if the manager saw the water incident or what, but I stayed for the next song and got what I needed.

AMAZING images you have taken there. They all have some sort of element, some sort of 'dynamic-ness,' which just takes them above even reality. Hell yeah mate, keep em coming.

This type of stage action helps make for potentially great captures... You did well getting them as they are getting around the stage... Looks like a very enthusiastic and energetic show.. and you did your job well capturing it.

thanks for the comments folks, appreciated!
dwight, no full stage shots as it was not practical from the pit area (i'm 6'2" and could just reach up high enough to get these shots!)

Nice action.
I like #4 best, #5 would have been great if there were a bit more face.
#1 and 6 are a bit too wide for my taste...

thanks rene. i wonder if 1 and 6 might have been better if i was higher somehow? less "feet-centric" distortion!

IMO, yes. #1 for sure... But I'm kinda allergic for "Frog perspective" ;)

frog perspective being at eye level perspective?

I love the lighting on two, it looks amazing. Was that the harsh white light you were talking about, or PP?
4 Is awesome too, but it looks a little OOF, or perhaps motion blur?

thanks man, nah thats not the harsh lighting i was referring to. not much pp to that one actually.

Don't know if it's English, but in Dutch, you have "Kikvors perspectief" (Frog perspective) (shot from low, looking up) vs. "Vogel perspectief" (Bird perspective) (shot from high, looking down)

Don't forget my favorite, Rene, "OOgle perspsectief".
