Hi Everyone,
I'd like some feedback on the composition of these shots. To me, the large expanse of coloured water balances the boats, but I'm not sure, so I'd like your opinions. Also, does the cropped version where I take out some of the background at the top improve the shot?
Cheers, Andrew

Im no pro. I prefer the cropped version. It shows less of the top left corner, the area with nothing that is very interesting.
I love the splash of colors, love the reflection in the water.
Seems like the color saturation is a little dull.
I like the shot in general.

I like the shot,I think the color is great, the only thing that bothers me is the front of the dock,I would have squared it up and re croped .The angle bothers me ,but still a nice shot

Ditto what serissolutions said. But I like naltysr am bothered by the camera angle. Probably too much geek in me and not enough artist. The reflections are great, something I've got to start paying more attention to in my photos. I tried rotating and recropping and didn't like what was left. I definitely prefer 2.

Thank you all for your comments. My monitor isn't calibrated so maybe that's got something to do with the saturation, although apart from a bit of sharpening I haven't really altered it. It's taken with a G5 with a 1.75 teleconverter. I see what you mean about the angle of the wharf. That's one of the reasons I sought feedback as it wasn't a "standard" composition but somehow it seemed to work.

I would take a bit more off the top. The fourth boat distracts. Trim it to right above the bow of the full boat. Then if you remove just a bit from the bottom and the right side you will have an eye pleasing 3:2 ratio. The diagonal gives it drama. Nice shot.

I like them, but i'd rather have seen them straight rather than on an angle.
