I'm puzzled. It sounds as though you want to PRINT the date on each of your photos, and I can't imagine why you'd ever want to do so. (I realize that there are film cameras that have the ability to put this information in every frame, but I have a strong preference to keep this type of distracting junk out of my photographs.)

The date and time information is stored with the EXIF data that's part of every picture. When you archive your data, the data and time for every frame can be saved. The folks who do my digital printing have the ability to print the file name and the date that the picture was taken on the back of each print. Would that solve your problem?

thanks for reply: yes indeed I wanted to print the date on the print-out, just like my brother did with his sony digital camera. I know the date is stored as meta data in the file, but to have it show up visibly on the print-out, seems to me not feasible with G2, unless anyone can enlighten me on this.

I do like to have the date printed on some of my photos(print-outs), so that I or some else knows when it was taken instead of having to go to my computer and check it in its electronic version. Date comes in handy when shooting photo for special occasions like wedding or birthday parties.

It can be quite easily done use BreezeBrowser, the thumbnail software that works very well with the Canon cameras. One function of BreezeBrowser is to print proofs, which are really just copies of your photos with features you specify (size, sharpening, etc.). These proofs can be watermarked with any of the EXIF data (including the date the photo was shot) contained in the photo (or anything else you want to add).

Take a look at the options in Canon's Easy Photo Print that comes with the G2.

When you get to the Layout/Print tab, you just click the Date menu button and the EXIF image date appears.

It is a bit limited in format, location and color, but a date none the less.

This is the easiest to use Date Stamp software available. I have been looking for something also and Thumbs Plus just was too cumbersome. The cost is realatively cheap and you can download a trial version to see if you like it. Once in the trial version or registered version go to Applications--Time/Date Stamp. You can choose to do all files within a folder so once you download the files you can move them to a folder, then click the Start button. I love to have the date stamp on my snapshots, I paid the $19.00 just to use the date/time stamp feature of this software alone. Also Tech Support for the program is great and updates are free. Hope this helps!
