I think the highest apature u can use, as you can to keep most the car in focus, unless you are going for a affect and want the font of the car in focus and the rest not in focus.
Trouble is if you all hand held you may have to open it up wide so you can keep the shutter speed down, also in those light situations you may need to bump the ISO to 200-400 and good flash will help,
Try using one of the preset white balances the light will be funny so try whats best!! You might have to use manual WB if you cant get a natural look with the presets
OH and most important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET PICTURES OF ATHE CAR BABES!!! and post them here of coarse :D

There are a lot of threads on that if you search for "auto show" in quotes.
I like using a tripod & RAW @ about f-11.
This shot is from a show last year:

and if you can't use a tripd (if it's crowded), just bump the ISO up a little and use flash if you can, even if it's just fill flash. Oh, and I like to get pretty low for car shots.

I would have to disagree with using a high f-stop. This is just me but the lighting at the Toronto auto show was really really bad. I didn't use flash because I'm a bone head. So kept down the stops to like F4 with 800 iso.. this way I was able to hand hold everything ( 1/200) and do things quickly. People will walk in front of you get in your way etc... a wider lens would of helped me too.... next time I would use the flash.... but I still think my shots turned out ok
