I'm going to be in San Diego for a few days in May. Any suggestions on interesting places to take some photos?

Old town is cool.

We enjoyed the zoo more than Sea World.

Go see the big old hotel on the island across the bridge. Hotel del Coronado.

balboa park (museums, all around pretty area)
mt soledad (good sceneic views of the sd coast line)
pick a beach (ocean beach, mission beach, pacific beach) (torrey pines is a rock beach)
drive up the 101 (start in del mar, nice coastal scenic drive)
la jolla (the cover where the seals hang out)

Also very noteworthy is the Coronado Island, San Diego Harbor (home of the USS Midway and Bob Hope Memorials) and the great La Jolla rocky shorelines.

Dudley's Bakery and the town of Julian. There's a spot (hopefully it hasn't been built on) where an old water tank used to sit and from it's platform more than 4,200 feet above the desert floor you can look almost straight down into the Mojave.

Definitely check out Hotel Del Coranado. If you're staying in downtown San Diego, the USS Midway and Petco Park are within walking distance. Also, there's one or two nice sailing ships docked in the area behind the Marriott and Hyatt.

Depending on what days you are there in May, there is the Red Bull Air race on the 9th and 10th. That takes place in the harbor.
