I tried the flip bracket with the extension arm and the umbrella attachment.
The short answer is- I hated it.
It was way too big and bulky, way too top heavy, and the tripod attachment point is at the bottom of the upright, which puts it at the left side of the camera, not centered underneath.
If you don't have a VERY sturdy tripod, the off center weight will make it droop badly to the side, making level shots extremely hard to get.
Also, it claims to stand up, but it failed miserably to do it for me.
If you want to throw away $120, pm me for my address! LOL! If you can't tell, I didn't like it one bit, and never tried to use it on a job.
If you don't want to spend the money for a Newton, or Custom, or other high end bracket, I suggest looking at one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Stroboframe-Camera-Flip-Flash-Bracket/dp/B00009UTLU
Hope that helps!

I went with a different flip bracket the Stroboflip by Stroboframe:

I am happy with it for the most part. I looked at the Alzo and researched it a bit with most of the opinions being like pman67's.
If you do get a Stroboframe flip bracket do be prepared to carry the proper combination wrench in case any of the nuts work loose. If the nuts work a bit loose the "flippy part" gets too loose and can flop around a bit. But a quick adjustment with a wrench and it's right back in shape. In the few months I have had mine I only had to do this once and I think it needed adjustment from day one actually.

I'm afraid I made the mistake also of purchasing the ALZO flash bracket with the mini softbox...it is for the most part top heavy...and I have noticed also that it does droop because it does not center mount to a monopod or tripod...also not good to use the mini softbox on a windy day...I too will probably end up trying to sell mine and go with another stroboframe
