Hi everyone. Attached are pictures of a Dragonfly taken in my garden over the Easter Weekend. It was taken with a Canon EOS 20D, using a Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 lens. What an amazing combination of camera and lens!
This is my first ever Macro photograph and I'm really proud of it. Hope you enjoy taking a look. :)

Hello again. A slightly better version (in my opinion anyway) of the same dragonfly. Cropped to give more head-room and better sharpening. The f/5 DOF really didn't help this shot here so this is as focused as it gets, next time I will have learnt and choose even something as high as f/22 for a shot like this (would have still maintained good enough DOF).
Anyway hope you prefer this version?
Unfortunately this has one been sized down to 640x483 so if you want to see a bigger version go to http://mrstickman.deviantart.com

very cool. You'll have to experiment, but you want enough DOF to keep the dragonfly in focus, but not so much that you lose the lovely out of focus background. just my 2 cents.

You absolutely right. I'm still learning here, but I couldn't believe that a few millimetres apart could be out of focus. And now I wonder, will I get this opportunity again - the dragonfly was very cooperative indeed! :D
