Places to shoot in London

I will be traveling to London this week and staying at the Tower Hotel near the Tower Bridge. I am interested in places to take photos and would appreciate any hints and advice people may be able to offer.

I haven't been there since 911 so I don't know how many security restrictions there are but a walk down Whitehall from Trafalgar Square to the Parliament area is a real treat for architecture. Westminster Abbey is a can't miss photo opportunity and Big Ben is right there as well. Central London is really walkable for the most part, at least that's what I did. Victoria Station is the center of bus transportation, they sell passes for the buses and the underground that are well worth the price. Really, there is so much to shoot it's really difficult to stop shooting, bring lots of cards for your camera. My first time over I got a tour book from the bookstore and read it on the plane on the way over to get some idea of what to shoot and never got to half of what I wanted to do. I really want to go back someday, although not in winter. I was there several times at different times of year and winter really sucked to be honest. I'm from New Orleans so that had something to do with it.

Maybe some of our British cousins will see this and help you out more.

On top of the landmarks that breal101 mentioned above; There's also some great places for 'urban' and street candid photography. Like all large cities, London is always buzzing with life and there are photographers everywhere and great oppurtunities to get great street shots.

If you get the time, head down to Southbank and around the Imax/London Eye, I got some great shots on my last trip down to London and met some really nice people, including a couple of photographers around the Southbank area.

If I speak to Elysium (POTN User) later, I'll nag him to post in this topic, he shoots in London all the time and knows it far better than I do
