I took these of my kiddo (13) in our kitchen. I'm having some issues with the shadow at the corner of her eye/edge of her hairline in PSCS. I can't get rid of it, even with the healing tool - just creates more black-ish/dark area... help?

Very nice! I don't really notice the shadow you speak of but I will watch the thread in hopes someone answers your question. I've been trying to figure that out too.

Ill borrow this from a post i saw yesterday
first
make a copy of the layer control- J
then adjust the levels control-l for this new layer.... until your happy with the detail in the darker shade area of hair.
now type x to make the the foreground black
then alt and click on new mask layer.
you should have the original background image showing again.
now type x again to bring the foreground to white.. you might have to manually select white.
then choose brush tool and brush in the layer details for her hair from the layer you adjusted.
modify the amount of blending by adjusting the opacity of the layer...
if you over brush... just type x and make the foreground black and brush out that area of overbrushing...
one way...
your posted image having had a close look has blown shadows i couldnt save the darkened spot of hair.. (lightening it) but i did add some lighting highlight to the face (crisper brighter eyes) using the method above...

Thank you for the compliments! It's easy to make good photos with this kid... the camera loves her! hahaha She's in her goth meets heavy metal stage, camo pants, and band shirt, lots of ozzie-esque eyeliner... catching her neat faced and willing to sit for me was a real challenge!
I'm off to get the original image out, and follow your instructions Nabil... I am always LOOKING for an excuse to play with PSCS... it's as bad an addiction as photography itself! hahahah
