This is my first attempt to post a picture,
This was taken at Slimbridge WWT. Light was not great and the small bird was very fast. picture cropped.

Stunning.
2 flew past me yesterday but with a turned off G6 i guess i didnt have much chance LOL

You captured it well. Your choice of shutter speed hasn't frozen the movement completely and the result is detail where it's important, on the head, and blurring on the wings to depict the movement. It's compositionally sound as well.

Not easy from that hide. They are so far away. I struggle with my 500 and 2x to get anything decent. Congrats to you.

Yes, I agree, nice catch!
I had a chance at my first Kingfisher the other day. They are really fast!! Not easy to get at all.
I did not have the extender on the 100-400L--so all I got was a fuzzy picture of the bird on a piling too far away--same when he flew.
Enjoyed your picture.

Amazing.. I never have any luck with these guys,. and even if I did the local Kingfisher is not nearly so stunning as yours.

According to me a rare and nice photo.
Most of the time you see a photo of a kingfisher on a tree.
Finally a photo that makes a difference !

Well what can i say, but a big thank you all very much for your kind words. i will try and see if any of the other pic's i took of the kingfisher at the time will be postable.
