NEED A SOURCE WHERE I CAN LEARN HOW TO SHOOT IN THE AV MODE WITH MY 10D. I USE THE TV MAINLY BUT AFTER READING THIS FORUM I AM MISSING OUT ON SOMETHING IT SEAMS

No need to shout (all caps.) Welcome to the forum. Any basic photography book can explain to you how to use Av. Usually you use Av when you want to control the depth of field and aren't as concerned about the shutter speed, like for portraits or landscapes. A large aperture (small f number) gives you a very narrow depth of field-subject(or a part of the subject) in focus and the rest blurred, a small aperture (large f number) gives you a large dof.

Still, you should observe the shutter speed calculated by the camera and be ready to make adjustments (to ISO, aperture, or using a tripod or flash) if it gets too slow.
