It does my heart good to see another Nikon convert :-)
I was a Nikon user for many years (film, not digital) and made the switch about 10 years ago. I have never looked back.

Great Scott.
Is this sort of photo allowed on this forum ?
must be at least 20 mentions of the ....N.... word in this pic.
Are you trying to insight a riot on here ?
Ah!
not so bad as I first thought a Canon 20D got a mention.
Enjoy the 20D.
Cheers

That shouldn't be a problem. You're using Canon, and everyone recognizes (although grudgingly in the case of NOINK owners) the unquestionable superiority of the Canon product line. Feel free to visit their fora and gloat!

I had a lady walk into my diner with a D70. I tried to stay cool and then decided to club her with my 20D and throw her out. Then I thought, "what the heck am I doing!". SO I grabed the nikon and used it instead of my 20D. (just kidding!) But i did give her a rash of greif as I still wanted her $$$. She actually let me hold it. I was so glad I went with canon and my 20D.

I made the switch from Nikon also, and it was hard. (especially leaving the large viewfinder of my Nikon F4s -with DW-20 and DW-21 finders ) I purchased the 10D when it came out, and it took some getting used to, small viewfinder, no apature ring, etc. But im used to it now. I was going to purchase the 20D, but unforturnetly I went to PS World in vegas this year and played around with the 1D MkII and 1Ds MKII, and now after looking through the viewfinder, im sold. Its actually bright/large. Just what I missed with my F4s now I have to save up this summer to buy one. As for Nikon, great in the 80-90's but somehow they fell behind, im glad i switched over.
(one thing I wish canon would do is make for their pro models is a removable finder like my Nikon had, the 5x waist finder and 6x smoke stack finder where great in the studio and for closeup work, and the Angle Finder C does not cut it, ive tried it already)

I'm just curious, why exactly are you switching? How much will the 20D improve your photography? Seeing the pic of that Nikon outfit, the only thing I would of sold is the 28-300 3.5-6.3, yuk.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Canon user and love my gear(wish I have more) but I have friends who do use the D70; for the stuff they do, it wouldn't matter which system they use.

I nearly went down the N**** D70 route, being a long time N**** user with F80 & F100 film cameras.
The D70 was just not built to a high enough standard for me and also has no vertical grip option. The old D100 was starting to show it's age (and based on the F80 had a rather cr*p autofocus compared to my F100) and a replacement was not forthcoming. The new N**** D2X had the right spec & build, but was (is) too expensive for me.
Along comes the 20D and I made the big 'jump' - I am now about to sell off my old N**** gear (cue tears!) so I can afford to build-up my Canon kit - So far I am more than happy with the 20D - Like 'Carnagex2000' above, I miss the large (near 100% view) bright viewfinder of the F100, but you do get used to it.

cant agree with you on build quality of the D70 the D70 has build more solid then a 20D, the D70 feels so robust and solid i rekon you could beat it around a fair bit, and it feels much more comfy in the hand
the 20D although metal seems more fragile, i would not want to bang that around to much
the worst thing on the 20D is the CF card holder lid , its not in a good position and when i grip the 20D i can feel the memory card door flexing under the presure of the base of my right hand under normal grip, it flexs quite a bit when you grip it tight, i think its going to be loose and out of alignment after heavy use or even worse bust, lets hope not

Welcome, be glad you did this only with few equipment. I've lost lot of money when I did that. I had few good Nikon VR's and ....I should have stayed with Canon to begin with, LOL.

Always had Canon, always will. I can't even imagine making a switch to a different brand, but I am glad you came over to our side.
