So how difficult is it to get one of these old model 300mm F/4 w/o the Image Stabilization? Seems like you can't find them anywhere. I would like to add it to my arsenal eventually. All suggestions will be appreciated. Also, what would be a good price for one used?

Mike

Also, do you think their really is an optical quality differance between the old model and the newer IS.

I've seen some say the non-IS model is a hair sharper than the newer IS version, but from what I've seen it's nowhere near worth the loss of IS, in my opinion.

Anyway, KEH often has the non IS model. They don't right now, but here's the link to check:

I also see them on Fred Miranda's buy/sell forum from time to time;

i'm really bewildered now... I know this lens is great, but why would you choose this over the IS version.

I need to make a decision quick, I need to buy some longer glass as well. Back to the confused stage...

Yeah. I know. *shrug* When you do a search on a keyword, do you ever look at the date before replying to it? ;)
