Are you kidding me!? Lee's holder alone costs more than that! :)

You can get Lee's filter stuff at 2filter.com.

there we go. that's the link i was looking for. Question though, are hi-tech filters equivalent of cokin's resin filters? If they are, i might as well save up some more. let me put it this way, what do you guys use? (that way i can join the cough* bandwagon)

=)

Hitech, Lee, and Singh-Ray are all resin filters. And they are all head and shoulders above Cokin. Cokins are "gray grads", while the others are truly neutral. Hitech would be the way to go...excellent filter at a fair price.

The one advantage of Lee over the others is the length of their grads (6"). This effectively gives you the ability to use the darkened end as a ND on most lenses. I know Hitechs are 5" by comparison. I'm not sure about Singh-Ray.

Being able to maneuver easier is another plus for the 6"...

i know this might be a cheesy question, but what would you recommend for starts? i'm going on vacation in mid march to cancun with the family and i would love to get in on beautiful sunsets. although i think i only need a 50/50 N/D filter.

If you're interested in getting just one filter I'd probably go with a .60 GND...hard edge.
