My Ixus V is dead !

My Ixus V suddenly died yesterday. I suspect it may be a known problem, and it is still under warranty, but all my manualsand disks are in transit with a removal company as I am relocating to the USA.

I think I took out the CF card while the camera was still switched on. Is this a no-no? There is now no response from the camera at all - it won't even switch on. The battery is fully charged.

I have emailed Canon UK tech-support but they have not replied yet. Anyone out there who can offer some advice?

Can I check with you whether you took out the CF while turning on the camera or took the CF out and turn on the camera? If the answer is the first one, then I'm not too sure with the answer. For the second one should not be a problem, it will simply show no cf card.

The camera was on when I removed the CF card. I think I then switched it off before replacing the card.

The camera is literally dead. No apparent power; no lens opening; no screen. Absolutely nothing.
