Really awful lighting in Cincinnati's arena so I had to go to 3200 with the 40D... I figured the results would be alot worse, so I can't complain too much

Great action caught and very nice framing of the images. I don't think the noise is too out of control. I notice it but do not find it to be distracting at all. Great jog with these.

I am in college and shoot for the school's newspaper. I don't travel with the team, but myself and two reporters went to this game because Cinci is only an hour and a half away

I am jealous you get to shoot a team that is playing so good. Keep up the good work.

Sam, these look very clean for 3200. Action is solid and exposures look good too. I think you should be pretty happy with what you got on these. I don't care for the crop on #2 (like the concept though as I posted a similar type shot last week). Take it in tighter still to lose the dead space over his head (4x6 or even 5x7 aspect should do it without losing anything else).

#8 is definitely my favorite.
1 and 9 are nice but I would try a different crop on some of the others.

Not bad capturing the action in the arena. I work EMS for the college and work the basketball games (big guys in red shirts with "EMS" across the back). I feel your pain w/ 3200. Here's my take on the lighting in the gym (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=6785151&postcount=1). Seeing as how you were shooting w/ UofL paper, they didn't offer you the use of the arena strobes? Ask next time (if you didn't). Just wondering.

I like these shots. Think you could play with them a little more, though. Several have a yellow cast -- I think its coming from the floor, which seems like it might be a little more saturated then in real life perhaps? When I shoot volleyball, I often pull a little of the yellow out of the photo to knock that down.

Number 8 is awesome.
