With basketball season winding down, i feel the urge to shoot baseball. I've shot slow pitch softball so i've never had to worry about getting hit with the ball as slow as they go. But the 2 schools i could shoot baseball (one i'm 100% sure) don't have a photo pit, and they stand off on the side of the field. Would you shoot baseball without a photo pit, or being able to shoot from the dug out where your at least somewhat protected?

Sure -- I shoot baseball under such conditions at several venues. Being hit by foul balls is an occupational hazard baseball shooters accept -- we just hope we're not hurt too bad when it happens. I think the greatest danger we face as baseball shooters is driving to and from games. I drive several thousand miles every season and in my travels I've come upon numerous fatal accidents but I've never had a foul ball put me in the hospital and I've heard of only a couple incidents in the past several years when a baseball shooter was seriously injured.

well i've got all the kids i want, so the cup doesn't bother me LOL. It's D1 baseball and since they use the aluminum bats the tip balls have a little zip to them. I just asked because i don't have insurance on my equip yet and really don't feel like having a part of me broken. I am gonna talk to the Sports Info guy wed night at the basketball game to see about shooting from the dugout and see how that goes.
