Hi Gang,
I copied the disk to my computer but it looks like Im having problems with the software. I had the d60 before and when I hooked the camera to the computer it almost downloaded the pics to the computer (plus a click or two). But with the 20D, it does seem to be happening. Actually nothing pops up. Is there a problem with my computer or the software. I can only transfer images by going to my computer and dragging the pics over to the computer but that doesnt seem right. Oh, I have windows XP

You installed the new software that came with the 20D? I gave up on the software included with the 20D, I got a card reader and user either windows explorer or DIM from http://alanlight.com

Larry, you might want to start with what software you used with the D60. What is it? Did you de-install it, or not?

Then, what software are you trying to use with the 20D?

Next, are you shooting JPEG files?

Are you using a card reader? If not, why not?

I love Canon cameras. I hate the new software for the 20D. I have the S50 and traded in my Rebel for the 20D. I loved the software for the other cameras but this new "viewer utility" is the worst windows based program I've ever encountered. And to top it off, you can't use the old software with the new camera.

Hi Shim,

What problems have you been having with EVU? I'm using it on an Win XP Pro machine and it runs flawlessly.

Hey Bob,
How's it going? I think the new software is a royal pain in the.....
You plug in the camera and it takes 50 clicks to get to the downloading point. With the other software, when you plug in the camera and it starts the download process. The old software downloaded and filed automatically. VERY easy to manage the pictures later. Ifyou could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong I'd :D it!!!!

Hi again shim,

Hmmm ... 50 clicks sounds like you haven't got things set up right, or you are dragging each individual image instead of the entire folder containing them.

For downloading direct from the camera after connecting to a USB port:

1. Open EVU
2. Double click on the EOS 20D icon at the top of the folder tree
3. Double click the folder called "1" (or single click the "+")
4. Double click the folder called "DCIM" (or single click the "+")
5. Drag the folder you want under DCIM to the destination folder you have set up on your pc and watch the files transfer.

Also, under View in the menu I leave Folder Tree checked so that the application starts up with the Folder Tree displayed.

Three clicks and a drag after opening up EVU :)
