Seems like I've heard bad stuff about royal camera. What's this stuff about grey market? Are these grey market cameras? Imports that aren't covered by U.S. Warranty.

There are so-called USA products by Canon that come with USA warranties. Then there are "import" products by Canon that probably do not have any USA warranty. In some cases, the vendor covers it with his own warranty.

On the other hand, there are scam shops like those being discussed here. They use serious bait and switch tactics to get you to place an order, and then they either "upsell" you into something far more expensive than what you thought you were buying, or require you to pay additional for accessories that should have been included in the basic package.

I'm just astonished that some states don't send their consumer affairs attorneys in to close down these operations. They must figure out some way to operate their scams and avoid court.

Now this is the most pro-active action I have ever heard of

Wow!

First link scores 0 out of 10 on reselleratings (6 inputs)
Second link scores 0.12 out of 10 (21 inputs)
Third link scores 1.99 out of 10 (107 inputs)

The feedbacks make for some pretty interesting reading.

By the way, a couple of dealers with great ratings are:

B&H: 8.89 out of 10 (640 inputs)
ibuydigital.com: 9.18 out of 10 (443 inputs) CAUTION: there is another called ibuydig.com that only scores 0.21 (12 inputs)!!!

And there are many more excellent stores that sell on-line.

I like these guys:
Imagine Spectrum (http://www.imagingspectrum.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/Canon_eos_20D_digital_camera.htm?L+scstore+vyyc905 4ff964196+1126387380)
They are mainly a walk-in store but they are happy to do mail order too. With that in mind the shipping may offset the savings from B&H or one of the other "good" mail-order houses. Worth checking though.

To my knowledge the 20D didn't significantly lower the price of the 10D.

I think you'll find it did.

Before the 20D was announced the 10D was selling for approx £1050 in the UK
A week after the 20D hit the shelves at a lower price than that 10D's were worth just £700

So yes, it significantly lower 10D prices.
