Help! I have a canon 20d and am trying to keep my files 8-11 MB. Everytime I convert to jpeg they compress to 1-3 MB. I am shooting in RAW. What is the best way to convert them or do I have to convert them at all? I am so confused!!! I want my files to be as large as they can be for englarged prints. ???

Have a look at this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=64442), DPP is free and quite good. Why are you shooting in RAW? There are good reasons, but if you don't know them you might be better off shooting JPG until you learn a bit more. Poke around here, read stuff, and ask questions, people are usually helpful, and I try to be helpful sometimes ;)

When you convert the RAW to JPEG, they are going to get compressed somewhat. As long as you save them in the highest resolution possible (minimal compression), you shouldn't have any problems making prints from them. However, if you anticipate editing these files before you print them, then I suggest you convert them to TIFF format instead of JPEG. But, be warned, you'll have the opposite problem. TIFF files tend to be large.
