I had a Tamron lens with a 'pinch' style of lens cap, which allowed you to attach and remove the cap with the hood on. It was standard issue with the lens and was very convenient. I have not been able to find one for Canon. I did find some generic ones and some with Nikon printed but no Canon. Does anyone have one or know where you can get them? The generic would work fine but I would rather have Canon brand if there is such an animal.:D
thanks..mitch

I went out a bought Nikon caps for all my Canon lenses....then took a black marker to the name.
The Canon's were just to tough to get off with my stubby fingers. A good friend of mine has no problem....oh well..

I have no problem with the lens caps as is, but I think that Canon does make what you are talking about for some sizes. Not sure it will actually work, but the lens caps on my XL-2 lenses sound like what you are talking about. 72mm filter size so may only fit certain lenses.
Just a thought.

I have no problem using the Canon pinch style lens caps. Sometimes it is a close pinch with the lens cap on, but I can pinch it off.

They are cheaper than the Canon ones ... but better.
Still, if you want to do it in style, you can also get the Hasselblad ones

You can find some generic ones on eBay for a pretty reasonable cost, though sizes are limited:

It is such an obviously better - and more convenient - design ... it is difficult to comprehend why all caps are not made that way.

Maybe I'm nuts (wait, I am) but I like the canon caps better than my old Nikon. I have average size hands (which has absolutely nothing to do with the size of anything else) and can reach into the hood of any of my lenses without difficulty and take-off/remove the caps with no trouble. I didn't like the front-type pinch of the Nikon caps.
