This is Strand, near Cape Town in South Africa. The shot was taken around 11am with a 300D and Sigma 18-125mm DC lens.

Really great shot. Wonder if it would be better without the driftwood. It distracts me slightly.

It's kelp actually and I think it adds a little interest to the foreground. I took another shot from a slightly different angle that did not include the kelp and I preferred the one with the kelp visible.

Very nice photo...I'd love to see it without so much JPG compression and artifacting. Maybe post a less processed version?

How's this? For this version I took the TIF file I saved after processing the CRW, resized it, did a post-resize sharpen and saved it as JPEG with minimum compression. Unfortunately the image was a bit grainy due to my use of 400, which was an oversight. I had been shooting surfers just before and forgot to set the ISO back to 100 for this shot.
