Wanted a little extra reach without losing much light so I put the 3x barlow lens between the scope and camera tonight. Got me a little closer than last night, but it was harder to focus.

I think this is Serius, based on the sky charts I looked at. Very bright, to the LEFT (temporary dyslexia...lol) and below Orion. Put it on 30 second exposure and was shielding the view finder with my hand because of the street light across the street. About 3/4 of the way through I just barely grazed the hotshoe...DOH!

I actually kind of like it though...lol

Sean nice shot of Venus ! Yes it is a little harder to focus on Venus at higher power . Shows alot of color also but probably from the barlow and scope lens . BTW Sirius is just below the Orion constellation but to the bottom left , not the right side . Sirius (http://space.about.com/od/deepspacepctures/ig/Sisius-Pictures-Gallery/The-Dog-Star--Sirius--and-its-.htm) is a beauty of a star to image when you get it right and the colors right ! Sirius is also the brightest star in our night sky .

I meant left, not right, lol. Pretty sure that's what it was, certainly is bright, and the color looks right.

One of these days I'll get a motorized mount so I can do more than trails and quick snaps.

If you follow the line of the belt down and to the left then you come to Sirius, yes. Never actually imaged it myself, but I also quite like your shot of it...it's different. ;)
