Challenge #212 - Macro shot
For this week, please post your best macro shot (I've been wanting to have this challenge for a while now - seriously - and since I cannot post, well...) All the cameras involved have a macro function (or something close enough for our purposes) so let's see what you have and hopefully we'll be able to determine what the subject is :p.

OK folks, I have the winning entries ready for posting. Thanks to everyone for their images this week - good stuff all around. These are the ones that really grabbed me:
First Place: MFor (Bzyy) -- why can't I do this? Sharp as a tack, amazing detail, an absolutely amazing image from a G-Series camera.
Second Place: Gloubiboulga (Enjoy your meal) -- Again I ask "why can't I do this?" An incredible runner up shot that really had me hooked. I am not going to ask if that is a fly in its grasp...
Third Place: NJdez (Droplets) -- very abstract and a very cool image. I like the blue on gray coloring. Well done.

Good morning everyone, this week's challenge is now closed.
I previously posted that the image submitted by K-Holed was ineligble based on the posting time (it displayed on my PC as 06:27). However, the image was posted at 05:27 CST (11:27 in England) so the image is eligible and yours truly acknowledges his error. Thanks.

Congrats to MFor and Gloubiboulga! And thank you for 3rd place Macroshot.
MFor...that image blew me away. To be honest I didnt think that it actually came
from a G series camera until I checked out your exif data. was this shot with a
macro or reverse lens? the DOF is perfect and the magnification is awesome!

I too checked exif data on MFor's photo to believe this could be possible! :D Congrats to him and NJdez!

Standard camera with macro mode and without any extra lenses... but image edited in PhotoShop. To be honest, this photo originally doesn't have that DOF and sharpness. ;)

ahhh i see....
the shot with that magnified look and that circular DOF strongly resembles
that of an image coming from a reversed lens...which is why i asked. the color
accent worked well here too

You don't really have to precise this as it is obvious that there's a postprod job behind your photo…*but WHAT A EXCELLENT JOB! :D ;)

The hardest job in this photo was keeping steady on my ladder (this Araneus Diadematus was just under the roof of my garage…) while trying to get as close as possible to the spider whithout touching the web.

thanks for that description Gloubiboulga
now thats extraordinary because almost the very same thing happened me
one day a few years ago
from the kitchen I saw a huge spider hanging in a web on the high wall outside which was between the carport roof of a neighbour and our side passage, his side a kind of garage
I got a chair from the kitchen brought it outside and balanced on it on very shaky ground while trying to get shots of mr spider.. hanging in there
lol
the background turned out terrific because of the situation and position
:D

Thank you Marie and congratulations to the winners. The standard of photography here is always superb but this week was exceptional. I literally had 5 minutes to take a few shots of my 'coffee' candle - coffee being the only thing keeping me going since the lil one appeared 3 weeks early at the end of january
Hope I don't offend by hijacking the thread with a photo of the new arrival and her big sister - mod, feel free to move if so.

... May I ask what in particualr you do for pp in ps? ...
Usually... first I rotate and crope the picture to perspective nice for me, after that I play with each color - saturation etc (ctrl U), levels (ctrl L), sharpness, blurring, everything in parts of photo which I want to.
Sometimes I do something more. ;)

NJdez what's the deal with the droplets, how'dja do it? Very cool.
thanks man.
this is a shot of the drivers winodw of my car after some light rain overnight.
it was taken in the parking lot at CNBC before i took off for the day...in the
larger droplets you can see a light post and some clouds.
shot as a JPG in widescreen with a no name macro lens that gives around 10x
magnification (lens that came with my old wideangle head i converted to a fisheye).
then some work in PS to get the colors, contrast, and feel i was going for.
