Are there any decent books / textbooks around that show the different wedding photography styles ie PJ, traditional etc... and give a run down of the more commonly used wedding poses.

I am looking for some sort of reference to use as a basis for wedding shoots... something that you can take as the foundation, then add your own creative style to.

So... what happens... does everyone just makes it up as they go???

Surely someone must have documented the different styles and the commonly shot poses.

Head over to your local bookstores and check out the selection. I found the Posing for Portrait Photography: A Head-to-Toe Guide from Amherst Media to be good (even though it doesn't cover weddings, they still do a great job of breaking down poses and what looks good vs what doesn't).

One suggestion I found in another wedding photography book is to look at the editorial shots in wedding magazines for posing ideas. It also recommended looking at GQ and another men's magazine I can't think of at the moment for men's poses.

Go to Overstock.com and search for wedding photography books. I have a couple of books I really like by Jeff & Kathleen Hawkins and Bambi Cantrell. The price is about $10-12 cheaper than at the local bookstores.
