This is the first photo I post. My boyfriend took it, what do you think of the effect he was trying to achieve?
We don´t know much about photography, so we would like suggestions and tips, thanks!
PS - shot with a Canon A520 f 4.0 , 1/320

Nice idea, but I would sooner see the face in focus than an Ivy leaf.Good first post though.

I agree. I would rather see the pretty girl in focus. Though the ivy is nice.

I agree with that. A nice setting, a pretty face, but it really would look better in sharp focus

face needs to be in focus. Sorry for repeating the obvious!

I supposed that would be the problem, but funnily enough that was the effect we were going for, to see what it would look like, rather than a less exciting portrait in focus.
Thanks for your suggestions, we might try again tomorrow focusing on the face, like that we can compare.

I was going to suggest MORE ivy since the face takes away from your prime subject - the ivy.

You´re right, with that amount of ivy it should be focused on the face, if there had been more ivy maybe it would have looked better. Thanks for the tip!

yupyup :) More than the face being the focus instead of the ivy, maybe there should have been more of the ivy in the photo and less of the face
but i like the concept.
makes me think of elves passing through the woods... i dunno why  haha. LOTR style :p
