canon 100-400 Is VS canon 300 f4 IS + 1.4 TC

How do the images you get from a canon 100-400 IS compare to the images from a canon 300 f4 IS with a 1.4 TC. Comparison images would be apreciated. I am going to alaska and plan to get one of these options soon.

Well at 420mm the 300+1.4x wins I'm sure :) From 100-400 I have to give it to the zoom.
