there really arnt any settings to use...just shoot like you normally would.
the G10 has a converter setting to adjust IS accordingly for a telephoto
attachment, I dont think the G9 does.

since its a telephoto lens you need to be at full zoom with your G9 for the
lens to even work correctly, which will also get rid of the circular vig your
talking about.

iv seen some awesome pics taken with this lens on flickr. very high IQ
and perfect auto focus with any point and shoot.

Hey, NJDEZ...

What lens converter, etc., do you have for your G10 for wide angle stuff, if any?

Regards!

As was mentioned above, you need to zoom out to the near max zoom to eliminate vignetting on the G9 with a tele converter lens attached. You also should adjust the Converter menu setting (see page 241 in your camera user guide) to select the Canon TC-DC58C teleconverter lens. This is not exactly correct since you are using a different tele lens, but it will set the G9 IS system to compensate for a tele lens of the approximate length.

When you remove the tele lens, then select None for Converters in the menu.

There is no wide angle converter intended for the G10 as it already has a wide angle lens. I do not think that it's make physically sens to build an adator capable for such a converter because of the vignetting. As you can see on the lensmate site (http://www.lensmateonline.com/newsite/G10.html), you have to go from 58mm (G9) to 72mm (G10) filter thread to avoid this; a wide converter fitting on top of this would be a huge amount of glas...
The IS menu of the G10 also does not include a setting for an additional wide converter.

yes, wide converts do work on the G10. just b/c there arnt any specifically
made for the G10 doesnt really tell you much. any attachment lens will work
with any camera, it just depends on whether AF will work or not. you also
dont need a converter setting to use a lens. Macro lenses work great and
there arnt any settings for those...

I use an Opteka .20x Fisheye lens. AF works perfect
i can shoot at full fisheye with a circular vig like in these shots...

or i can zoom/crop through the vig for wide angle shots much wider than the stock lens alone...

Ok, i was thinking of a "classic" wide angle setup.
Of course you're right, that anything that physically matches could be tried out.

Hmm, perhaps i should give my Raynox 0.7x with the different steps of the Lensmate adapter a trial... I was too traditional. :)
