I thought some of you would enjoy reading this short note about Robert Frank's photography book "The Americans" from 50 years ago, a book about the book (with all his contact prints of his photos), and the National Gallery of Art exhibit.

Did anybody go to this exhibit? Is it worth a weekend trip to DC?

I hope you enjoy the link as much as I did.

Thanks for the link. Somewhat ironically, I picked up "The Americans" while visiting DC last year, but I am once again on the opposite of the planet, so I will not be able to make the exhibit. That said, I recently mentioned on another thread that "The Americans" is one of, if not the most, remarkable collection of photos I have seen.

If a weekend trip were affordable, then I would make the effort; there's other stuff to check out in the city as well, so you won't be want for something to do.
