Sorry man, but I'm not at all impressed.

Can you explain to me why? What are you not impressed with? The car? If it is the car, I'm sorry but the car isn't to lease you it is to please the driver. If it is the actual picture itself, do explain.

sure the pictures would look better witha better car, but its the technique that counts. I like them, nice job.

tough crowd here.. no worries though. The hardest thing about shooting cars is getting the correct light and also the angles. You've got the right idea with the low angle shots as those can have some cool results. Also try and pick a background that is very simple.. some parking lots will work. Most importantly is to pick the time of day carefully. Know where the sun will be at certain times of the day and remember to shoot with your back to the sun. That's the only way to really cut down on shadows. Other than that, make sure the car is clean and if glare is a problem, use a circular polarizing filter. Keep shooting and keep posting so people can help you improve your pictures.

Here's a few examples of what I mean. First pic sucks. Shadows all over the place, bad composition, low light makes a very unappealing picture. Second picture, shot with good lighting, no shadows, background is ehhh, composition is ehhh. Pretty bad examples but it should give you some idea of how much of a difference good lighting make.

Background, you have to think more about the background, it is just does not work. Lighting could be a lot better, blowouts and dark areas make it look dirty and flat. The yellow lines are very distracting, you could have used them to frame the car.

Sorry, but you asked.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it over, "they suck."

Sorry, but you asked.

How else would I learn?

P.S. Does it help if I told you I shot these with a little Powershot A95!? :)

But I do appreciate it guys! Where we are from, if you have anything over a stock look, you will most likely get pulled over by the police.

yes, those suck

bad background, dark dark shadows, blown out highlights, dirty car, did i mention bad background?

find areas with equal lighting (ie, big shadows on a sunny day, overcast, dawn) and a background that's not full of parking lot lines and light poles

I think the car is fine. Most people will bash it, but they usually don't own the cars they are shooting so who cares about their opinions. I like the menacing front mount shot. Most of the shots seem underexposed. You've got the right ideas for the angles you just need to practice more and more. Good job!

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm still learning. With a day like that, would it be a good idea to use a uv or polarizing filter?

You really won't notice a difference with a UV filter and a CPL would just enhance the blues a little bit. Honestly I don't think it'll make much of a difference looking at the pictures

No kidding man, if you're gonna criticize someone's work, you need to at least have the balls to be specific about how it could be improved.

My thoughts, the technique is pretty good but the scene is just plain boring. Parking lots just don't do anything for the shot and the background doesn't have much to spice it up either. It'd look a lot cooler in front of an urban backdrop or on a track somewhere.

I like the last two the best, the first one doesn't do anything for me at all as the colors are drab, there's no real reference to what's going on in the picture and the big off-white block of color on the left is totally distracting and out of place.

Try using a tripod. The blur shows there was not enough light and an unsteady hand on the camera. Unless you did then I don't know what to tell you.

I think the blur came from the cheap EBay wide angle lens I baught.

Wish my Civic was turbo'd, nice car ;)

I wonder how many people know enough about cars to even realise what they are looking at....
The angles are good.
The lighting is a little dull and Im not so kean on the yellow lines, but overall I like the shots, thanks for posting.

mmmmm intercooled.
work on that shot. not sure why it is like it is but it seems out of focus, and pretty dirty.
all shots seem dark though.

like the angled full car shots. it would be pretty easy to clone out the yellow lines.

Even if you know a lot about cars, you don't really know what you are looking at... All you can see is a Civic with an intercooler. God knows what size the turbo is, or if it's the stock motor.

I'll critique the car first, since I know more about cars than photography: I really like the wheels. I don't like the headlights at all; the stock ones look much better. Also, the signal lights would look a lot better if they were orange, but as somebody already said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as the owner likes it, that's what matters (after all, it's nicer than most Civics out there).
Tell the owner that if he/she re-painted the windshield wiper arms black, it would look a lot better (I've got the same car, so I know from experience).

I don't usually like car pictures that are taken at angles, but I really like your fourth picture. I don't like the yellow line comming out from under the side of the car though. And like others have said, the better background would improve the picture a lot. I guess that's all the 'help' I can give. Keep taking pictures and posting them though. I wouldn't mind seeing your friends S2000. :)
