Hya Folks,
Appreciate some comments from those who have a copy. I've been pondering on it and I've read in FM that it's good with a 10 rating. Planning on using it as a walk about and beginner's studio lens. :D
Cheers!

.......never heard of this lens...........probably not one of thier more popular lenses. I know that they have lenses in this range with constant 2.8 apertures that will probably give you better quality.

Thanks Ro1,
Yeah, I haven't seen anyone discuss it here. Maybe it's an Asia only lens or some other continent. :)

I think you would be happier with something in that range with a constant aperture. Like the Canon 24-70 F2.8L or the Tamron 28-70 F2.8.

Just bringing this to the top to get more input. Seems like a gem of a lens for around $100 nowadays. I saw it on ebay for $79 from Cameta Camera.

If you can spend some more money, a lot of people recomends the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX DG Macro (be aware, sigma has 2 lenses 24-70 & 2 lenses 28-70; check Fred Miranda lens site). This one it´s "almost" equal in quality with the EF 24-70 f/2.8 L USM, (exception USM feature), but a almost 1/4th of the price !!.
Cheers

The lens you mentioned was introduced by Tamron in the late 80's. It was a real breakthrough then, the first zoom to go 24-up by and independent lensmaker. Optically it was supposed to be pretty sharp but have fairly high distortion at the wide end. And at f/5.6 it's really slow at 70mm. I imagine the newer lenses are considerably improved.

The 24-70/2.8 is a nice lens.
The Canon EF24-85/3.5-4.5 is a pretty good lens for the price. =) It also has lighting fast ring usm.
