I would be interested in some feedback on the shot. What do you think of the composition? Thanks for your comments in advance they are always appreciated.

Great looking shot Dave, I would have cropped a bit off the top, but my wife says no, it's great as it is:). I like the DOF. They are lovely birds aren't they. Thanks for sharing.

Nice capture and lovely colors.

I think the angle is just a bit too severe for me. I think the head is a bit distorted and I would have shot a little more parallel to the side of the bird. But that's just me.
Great job on getting the eye in focus. Wonderful shot regardless.

I agree with the angle and DOF being a little too much for me, but the colors and all are lovely.

Thanks for the comments, here's an alternative shot which is a bit more horizontal. These are actually shot looking up at the bird in a tree. Would also appreciate comments on this shot as well.

Im guessing you used smart sharpen? Learn to mask. The shots are awesome but you way destroyed the bokeh by oversharpening the picture. There are tell-tale smart sharpen artifacts in the background. Just what it looks like to me. Could be wrong but im betting my money. :)

AlphaChicken, correct I have sharpened a bit. However my process was to use high pass first then mask and sharpen head details. My mistake may have been to then smart sharpen after I reduced image size and saved for web. Too much sharpening. This attachment has high pass and mask sharpening but no sharping before saving for web. Any comment on all three appreciated.
