Just wondering if someone might explain the difference between the two? Don't they both just put extra space between your camera and your lens? But, according to some info I found on line they don't do the same thing (but it didn't explain why that was??)

Teleconverters are actual magnifiers (adding glass), whereas extension tubes simply get your lens closer to the subject.

With an extension tube mounted between the body and lens, you can no longer focus to infinity... not the case with TC's.

Exactly, one gives the lens a longer reach (ie 200mm to 280mm), and the other allows you to focus closer.
