Hi all, just thought I would post a link to my travel journal, "An American Journey". I started in NYC, and ended in San Fransisco, and saw a LOT of stuff on the way. The site address is http://www.rokkorfiles.com/America.htm
Here are a couple of quick images to tempt you, hopefully they work - my first time posting images.
Cheers,
Antony

Love the lighting on the second shot. You have some wonderful and varied images on your website - you obviously have a 'good eye' for a photograph - I particularly liked the 'crooked house' - Maybe if you used a realy cheap wide-angle lense it will come out straight???

Great gallery Antony, very imformative and a fantastic collection of photos. Brings back lot's of happy memories for me as I spent 7 months last year touring the US and visiting many of the places you did, please take a look at my gallery when you've chance as I'm sure you'll recognise a lot of the places in my North American landscapes section.
I'll be in Melbourne sometime early next year as me and the wife are doing a 6 month trip around Australia :D. Nearer the time I'll have to ask you some advice on photo ops.
Thanks for sharing.
Paul.

Thanks for the feedback all. :) Paul, if you contact me via the site email address prior to arriving I would be delighted to show you around Melbourne, it's a bit of fun when you get to see some of the Melbourne that locals see.
Cheers,
Antony

Cool, how did you keep such wonderful DOF? Using f22 or f32? Do you use hyperfocal focusing? Tell me the tricks please.

Beautiful shots! As I look through your shots, they are very very impressive man. I'm really likin your work. how much did a trip like that cost ya?
how did you learn so much about everything you shot? Did you have someone telling you and then wrote it all down?
I love the stories that go a long with each picture. It's very interesting!
thanks a lot for sharing.

All of the shots on the site were actually shot with my travel kit, which is older manual focus Minolta gear. I generally never shoot past f/16 to avoid diffraction, and I try to go only to f/11 if I can help it.
The trip was quite expensive, yes, but I left my wife at home so that was like a 50% discount plus extra fun. ;o)
As for all of the info, well I collected some of it there, but mostly after I came home. Each page takes quite a lot of time to build, mainly in research - I want it to be interesting and informative, rather than just a page of photos. I think it is coming together well, but it is now about 18 months ago, and I am only up to day 21! I will get there eventually, it's just a matter of priorities etc.
Thanks for all the feedback,
Antony

Your site (even though I haven't seen all of it yet but sure will) is amazing - absolutely wonderful photography. I have been dreaming about doing a holiday photolog for some time and this provides perfect inspiration.
Thanks for sharing.

You put together a really impressive gallery. I am an american and I spend half the year travelling throughout this country. It looks to me like you were able to capture the essence of this nation. You got everything, from the New York Police, to the suburban sprawl pushing up against the rocky mountains.

Antony,
Awesome pics on your site! I did a similar road trip with my mom back in summer 2003. We drove across Canada (Toronto, Ontario to Alberta Rockies), headed south to Las Vagas and drove east, past Apsen, the American prairies and 12,000km later, back to Toronto in just 2 week. Although, another week would have been better! I gotta say, the American west was really interesting. Driving through the Canadian and American prairies couldn't be anymore boring. Hehehe... I saw pretty much everything you saw in the West (minus California). I gotta say, I wish I bought a 300D at the time (BTW, it got stolen recently due to break and enter) but all I had at the time was a Fuji 1.3MP. It was too slow with a 128meg card, so I only took ~170 pics. If I had a 300D, I would probably had taken a few thousand pics. Oh well...
Thanks for sharing, it brings back memories. :-)

Very nice gallery! I live not too far from Boulder, CO and you captured the feel of Colorado very well. Sometimes, it helps to see your home through the eyes of a traveler! I just can't imagine how many hours it must have taken you to do that, but what a wonderful rememberence of your trip.
