I'm new to digital photography (not to film -I've been shooting for 20yrs).
I'm having a delema that I don't know how to solve.
I purchased the elph as a "pocket" camara, and was not expecting to much as far as quality prints, but the 4 x 6s' are very good. I actually enlarged one to 11x17!. And guess what- next to 11x17 shot with velia (t-90, 85mm 1.2L) it looks great.
Since the elph photos looked good I decided to try a used 10d. I mated It to my 17-40L, and 80-200L. Well I've been trying ever since I purchased it to get prints any where near the elph?
Either One great Elph or one lousy 10d.
ps they were both developed in the same local camera shop.
Any Ideas?

Are you doing any post-processing on the 10D pictures? Canon's default contrast, sharpening and saturation settings for the P&S cameras are much more aggressive than those for the DSLRs, with all that implies in appearance. But the quality's there, assuming the "used" 10D doesn't have an "abused" problem.

Perhaps you could post an example of a 10D shot.

Jon,
Thanks for the reply.
I will admit I'm just getting up to speed with the digital thing, but yes I did some post processing, and the store I brought them to also post processed.
As far as an "abused" 10d what should I look for. The body is in excellent shape

Time to post a couple of examples, with EXIF data, as TQ suggests.

You don't even need to post process your shots. If you like the photos the elph gives you, bump up the in camera parameters of your 10D (Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness)...........click and you got a saturated contrasty sharp pic like the elph.
Of course I wouldn't suggest this..........but its a first step.
Then, when you decide you want more control, you would go into your computer and do all your post processing there. Remember, you will have to post process your photos with more aggression to match the look of Canon's P&S line.

I've owned both of these and unless something is SERIOUSLY wrong with your 10D setup, I can't imagine the S330 resulting in better images with the same photographer taking the same shots. The S330 is a great little P&S though. Forget all the post processing talk. The images straight out of the 10D should blow away the images from the S330.

I know I was slow to respond, but here are some pics from the 10d and elph.
And yes the elph appears to produce, at least as far as my developer is concerned, as good as the 10d????
