View Full Version : Easier & better strap than the bundled 20D strap ?

Well, I am now finally getting to grips with my 20D, enjoying using it, and getting some great shots.
But, what a useless strap in the box, for a £1000 camera I would have expected more. I also hate the fact that I have to crunch it up when putting the camera in it's case.
What I want is something a little wider, more comfortably padded, and that I can easily clip on and off the camera body when it is in the case.
Any recommendations?

The P.O.T.N. strap is cool, but the strap that came with my 20D is great, no complaints here.

It is great indeed, but the truth is, those op-tech straps pretty much take off half the weight of the camera. If you need to carry more bodies or bigger lenses, they come in handy.

Ya think so? They look cool ... I like the embroidered logo ... but I find it to be uncomfortable on my bare neck - could use some padding. Also - I really look forward to the quick disconnect capability of the OpTech strap

I use a lowepro strap similiar to the Op-Tech and really like it. Sure beats the strap that came with the camera.

Yeah I use a quick detach Tamrac natural suede padded strap on mine... the colored versions can bleed on your clothes in the rain / sweat. This one has done really well for me and I can quickly remove it when shooting portraits on the tripod, etc.

The only complaint I have, and the reason I have just bought the POTN strap, is that the plastic loops on the straps near the camera body scratch / mark the camera body. Just niggles the hell out of me.

If you decide to use another strap, other than the Canon one, remember to remove and keep the eyepiece cover (rubber attachment on Canon strap).
It is helpful, particularly in macro photography (camera tends to be pointed down more), in keeping stray light (coming from/through the eyepiece) off of the sensor.
Some people swear it happens (stray light) all the time but I believe for the most part, horizontal shooting (lens parellel to the ground) has little stray light impact.

I use the OP/Tech Super Classic Pro w/ Loop Connector. For me the Loop is better because I want the connecting point to be flexible as possible so that the strap doesn't get in the way. IMO, these are the nicest camera straps out there.

You can always use the strap that came with the camera as a strap to carry your tripod.
