This is the first photograph I'm posting up on the forum, so be gentle, but let me know what you think. I was using the 75-300mm USM lens at 300mm for the first time, and didn't notice the shutter speed was a little low, combined with a windy day, produced a bit of a fuzzy shot. However, I think it was much better after I turned it into a B&W shot and hand colored the birds. What do you all think?

Very nice, but if it were closer it would be a lot better. It's hard to see the detail in it.

I agree...I'm going to try to zoom in on the original later on and see how it comes out. Hopefully it won't be too blurry. Thanks!

Tiny subject matter is a problem, but nice concept and execution.

Okay, I see the cardinal, the house sparrow and the gorilla but where's the blue jay?

Is there a prize for spotting where these birds are  Just joking!

It looks like all you did was take the whole image and scale it down to 640 x 427
What you should be doing is cropping the image...
Cut out just the area with the birds and discard the rest... Process that and post just that. That way *all* you'll be showing is the birds.. There's no need to show all those branches :)
That's a good combo BTW .. Blue and red together.. I've seen lots of jays and cardinals, but I've never seen that pair together..
-------------------
I just took the liberty to crop the image for you.. I expanded your image back to 3072x2048.. Then I cropped a 640x480 area around the birds.
The quality is really bad, because there's no way I could get back the lost data from the orignal downsize.. But it gives you an idea of what you should do when you post iamges :)
