Back to the pond

The Geese have found open water after 3+ months of ice on the pond. Since there isn't much else happening here they got my attention. I wasn't able to get as close as I wanted but managed a few shots. The first is in the am yesterday and the others are near sun down today with more than 60% of the ice gone.

It's sad indeed that the ice is leaving us so quickly. There's nothing so dramatic in waterfowl as divers amongst icebergs. But the window for this is short. As you say, everything is a solid sheet of ice, then in a few days the majority of it is gone.
