While cruising through my rural countryside one overcast Sunday afternoon, I happened upon this animal. He was amicable enough as long as I kept my distance. Played with narrow dof and thought subject came out fairly well with some depth to photo front to back. I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I really like the colors and subject matter. Whenever I see an exotic farm animal, I stop and take photos too. You did well with this one. Overcast light seems to work well for this type of shot and I think that's what lighted this pic.
The only problem I see with this photo is the lack of detail in the eyes. Animal photography seems to always be about the eyes. In this photo, all I see are black spots for eyes. I've had some success with this same type of image by using fill flash. The flash gives the eyes the all important catch light and also reveals some details with the fur. Farm animals are great for practicing your fill flash technique becase they don't move.
Also, next time be carefull about the grass and weeds between you and the subject. The weeds sticking up in the middle of the bull's body are distracting and the weed in front of his face could have ruined the shot if it covered an eye.
Hope that helps.
Really do like the photo.

Tbird, that is a great shot! I really like the perspective you chose, kinda like a predator seeking its prey, or just a cool photographer sneeking through the grass to get closer the the beast for the purpose of art! Keep up the good work. Very Sharp.

Thanks to "theman" for an unbiased evaluation. You are obviously a Canon man with a keen eye for composition. Kudos kind sir! May the lens be with you.
