**Same post here, but based one the comments I went back and posted some 100% crops of the original photos. Hope this helps more.**

Hi all. Today I decided to do an informal test to see how the 350 does with different ISO settings. Below is a link to the gallery I made.

For best results be sure to click "Original" for the size. All were taken at f4, hand held and with no flash. All were recorded as large/fine jpeg. I tried to focus on the same flower each time (yea, real scientific, huh?!).

Again, the only modification made to the pictures was in resizing, nothing else. If anyone is interested in other versions of these pictures, like a larger size, let me know, I'll try to help.

Needless to say I was quite surprised and found that even ISO 1600 is more than usable. I'm impressed! Oh, I included the ISO 1600 f16 picture, well, I don't know why, but I did!

Hope this helps in some way.

That's a good test. I think to improve it you should add 100% crops to the gallery. When you resize the pix so small the color of a few pixels is averaged and put into one pixel, so color noise would be averaged and cancel out, so you wouldn't see the noise. I don't think i've said that very well, hopefully you know what I mean.

The 1600s seems a bit brighter than the others. Looks like for the 1600 f4 the camera was at its fastest shutter speed so you hadno choice except for over exposure, even the f16 was bright.

For those looking at the 350 maybe shots with the kit lens would provide a better example of what one would get right out of the box.

Thanks for posting the extra crops :) - althougth i'm not sure you can call flowers crops ;)

It confirms the feeling I have with my 20D, up to ISO 400 looks perfect, 800's ok but noticable on crops, and 1600's it's a little worse. 3200 on my 20D's a bit worse again.

Cobra-

Thanks for the test shots. I won't even think twice about using 1600 to get the shot if it's a must for the conditions; it looks very acceptable.

Glad I could help! I too was surprised with the results of this VERY informal test, quite pleased with the results too.
