I just got my tamron 28-75, and i must say i love it to death, cause with this lens, i can do macro photography with it. I was able to focus as close as 5inches away from subject and i got amazingly SHARP phtoos out of it.
MY question is, i have read many reviews and all of them say that the closest focusing distance was 13inches.... but mine was able to focus down to 5inches! why is that?
how close can your tamron 28-75 focus to?

Weird?
A quick look at Tamron's site;

Shows the 13" distance given for all focal lengths.... http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze2hdzu/pics/scratchy.gif

I'm glad you inspired me to check mine! At 28mm mine will focus at about 6.5 inches. At 75mm it will focus at about 5 inches. What a nice bonus.

I could be wrong, but isn't minimum focus distance measured from the sensor?

You are probably correct. I've reached my "senior" moment on this forum, and yet still learn something everyday.
