Turn off double flash the s230 uses

Hello all, I am looking for some help with my new s230. I was wondering if it is possible to make the flash fire once instead of twice like it does, I have a slave flash that is triggered by the flash and it fires to fast because it reads the first flash. Is there any way to make the s230 skip the first flash?

Is the flash set on "auto"?
In "auto" mode (an "a" next to the flash symbol) the camera will flash as often as needed to get the correct exposure.
In regular flash mode, the camera will flash only once per shot.
