This is my favorite cocky pic, but I know there is something not quite right, is it because he seems to be in his own shadow? :confused:

I'd suggest a tighter crop. The subject doesn't take up much of the canvas.

A close up shot would have been better. You want to take up most of the canvas with and object like that.

It doesn't look too sharp, but I think it's a great start. If that was full frame, I'd crop in a bit.
If you aren't shooting RAW, now's a good time to start. You'd be able to keep the shadow detail without blowing out the highlights with a bit of work in PS.
